Jones’ lead Lady Eagles to easy win over Bethany College

Bartlesville, Okla. — Delaney Jones scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds and the Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagles beat Bethany College (Kan.) 59-38 at home in the OKWU Classic Friday night.

Delaney knocked down 5-of-7 from three point range and shot 6-of-9 from the field in a dominate performance for the Lady Eagles, who have now won three games in a row.

Megan Jones, the twin sister of Delaney, added 10 points and 11 boards in the victory for OKWU, while Nichole Tate had nine points.

Head coach Mark Molder, who after watching his team’s slow start to the game and poor shooting in the first half – which was 10-of-37 from the field and 5-of-17 from behind the arc, was delighted with the Lady Eagles’ second half performance, especially its defensive work.

Tanya Garner led Bethany with 14 points and six rebounds, while Tasha Wagoner committed eight of her team’s 19 turnovers.

The Lady Eagles (3-1) will again be in action on Saturday at 6:00 PM when they take on Kansas Wesleyan.
