For the third year in a row, CBS MoneyWatch has named Oklahoma Wesleyan University the number one school for Best Professors, and again today, OKWU is being recognized for its outstanding performance. Oklahoma Wesleyan University is the only Christian college in Oklahoma to be named a Christian College of Distinction. Colleges of Distinction is a guide for high school juniors and seniors that focuses on what is actually important. The colleges are ranked on the level of student engagement, the faculty, the opportunities for involvement on campus, and the success of its graduates.

The universities that receive the honor of a College of Distinction are schools that have designed their curriculum and classroom environment in ways that engage their students and allow the students to take an active role in their learning. These schools have excellent teachers that interact with their students and take a personal interest in their student’s education. But colleges cannot win this award solely by their performance in the classroom, these schools must have vibrant communities that offer a plethora of activities and events for their students, and must offer a variety of opportunities for students to be involved in campus life.

Colleges of Distinction must also not only offer an exciting, full college experience, but they must also prepare their students for successful outcomes in every realm— family and community life, graduate schools and future jobs. Students from these universities can write, think and reason, and they are capable of addressing problems and finding the best solutions in the workplace and the world.

Oklahoma Wesleyan University is the Christian College of Distinction in Oklahoma because it focuses on educating the whole person, not only the mind. OKWU’s beautiful campus offers many avenues for its students to be involved— from intramural sports, to events on campus and student ministry opportunities. According to university president Dr. Piper, “Everything we do is grounded in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.” This is reflected in the core values of Oklahoma Wesleyan University— the primacy of Jesus Christ, the priority of Scripture, the practice of wisdom, and the pursuit of truth— which help set the school apart, and truly make it a College of Distinction.
