Adult & Graduate

It is important to make sure you understand our basic requirements before applying for enrollment at OKWU. Each program offered at OKWU has its own prerequisites.

To be considered for admission to the Associate or STEP degree programs (AAS in Early Childhood, AA in General Studies, AA in Christian Studies, AAS in Christian Ministry) you need to provide

  • Proof of high school diploma or GED: HS GPA of 2.0 or higher, GED must have a minimum score of 48 or equivalent
  • Official transcripts from all previous college or university study; an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 in previous college work. (The applicant may be admitted on a conditional basis if GPA is below 2.0.)
  • Students enrolling in the Adult Studies program must either own or have access to a computer.

To be considered for admission to the Bachelor programs (BS in Business Administration, BS in Ministry & Leadership, BS in Organizational Management & Ethics, BS in Psychology Studies) you need to provide

  • Official transcripts verifying a minimum of 45 transferable college credit hours
  • Proof of high school diploma or GED
  • An overall grade point average of 2.0 in previous college work
  • Students enrolling in the Adult Studies program must either own or have access to a computer

RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program Specific Admission Requirements

  • Official transcripts verifying a minimum of 60 transferable college credit hours
  • Proof of high school diploma or GED
  • An overall grade point average of 2.5 in previous college work
  • Proof of current United States RN licensure
  • Students enrolling in the Adult Studies program must either own or have access to a computer and have basic computer skills.

Ministry & Leadership Program Specific Admission Requirements

  • Same requirements as needed for the AA or BS based on application
  • The M&L core classes can only be conferred to one degree, AA or BS. The M&L core hours are the same for both degrees and therefore cannot be counted twice for an AA and then for a BS.

To be considered for admission to the MBA or MBA-NM you need to provide

  • Proof of an earned undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Official transcripts from every regionally accredited college attended
  • Provide 3 letters of recommendation from persons qualified to judge your professional expertise, character, and capacity for graduate-level work
  • Submission of a written admissions essay
  • Payment of admissions fee
  • Approval of the Graduate Business Admissions Committee
  • Students enrolling in the Adult Studies program must either own or have access to a computer

To be considered for admission to the MEd Program you need to provide

  • Proof of an earned undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.0 or a major GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
  • Official transcripts from every regionally accredited college attended
  • Applicants holding teaching certificates or licenses must submit copies of their teaching certification.
  • Provide 2 recommendations from persons qualified to judge your professional expertise, character, and capacity for graduate-level work
  • Submission of typed two-page statement of purpose
  • Payment of admissions fee
  • Approval of the School of Education Graduate Committee
  • Students enrolling in the Adult Studies program must either own or have access to a computer

Additional Admission Requirements for all Applicants

  • A passing TOEFL score for students whose first language is not English (US citizens exempt)
  • International Students must show proof of income to support the cost of their program
  • International Students must show proof of legal immigration to attend OKWU

  • AA – Associate of Art
  • AAS – Associate of Applied Science
  • BS – Bachelor of Science
  • MBA – Master of Business Administration
  • MEd – Master of Education
  • Conferred – the degree officially shown on your OKWU transcript once you have completed all requirements
