The Adult Studies Mission

The Adult & Graduate Studies Program at Oklahoma Wesleyan University exists to provide adults with Christ-centered, quality, professional education.

The Adult Studies Goals

  • To offer academic programs, jointly with the university’s academic divisions, to people whose family responsibilities, employment situations or personal preferences do not permit them to obtain a college degree while living on a campus
  • To deliver academic programs that require mastery of learning outcomes appropriate to the academic level of the degree sought by the student.
  • To provide adult students with comprehensive, practical and intense curricula in order to enable them to acquire skills in information gathering, processing, analysis, synthesis, and problem solving.
  • To facilitate an understanding and application of Christian principles in personal and professional environments.

The History of Adult Studies at OKWU

OKWU is a university where Jesus is Lord. Unapologetic in our commitment to the truth of Christ and Scripture, OKWU models a way of thought, a way of life and a way of faith.

Beginning with only one degree program in 1989, the programs offered by the Office of Adult and Graduate Studies at OKWU were created to provide an opportunity for adults to further their education in a caring, faith-based environment.

Adult Studies has grown to a student body of almost 600 members, offering six undergraduate degrees and one masters and reaching out to over ten locations across the state and online around the world. Not only does AGS provide a place of serious study, but it also offers a place of honest questions and critical engagement.
