Earning Your Associates Degree at OKWU

The STEP Program is designed to fit into your busy schedule and to fulfill your need for further education. Full-time working adults who may not have any previous college credits or have a limited number of credits to transfer are perfect candidates for this program. With OKWU’s accelerated degree plan, an Associate of Arts can be completed in less than 2 years. All STEP classes can be taken on-ground or on-line.

Program Overview

The program consists of 4 progressive steps incorporating courses in the areas of Mathematics, English, Business, and the Humanities. Students in this program earn an Associate in Arts in General Studies upon completion of 60 credit hours. Students also have the option of earning a Baccalaureate degree by completing the required courses in the STEP program and any remaining credits for a total of 126 credit hours.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to the STEP program, you need to provide:

  • Proof of high school diploma or GED.
  • Official transcripts from all previous college or university study; an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 in previous college work. (The applicant may be admitted on a conditional basis if GPA is below 2.0.)
  • A passing score on the TOEFL examination or equivalent taken within the last five years for applicants for whom English is a second language (US citizens exempt)
  • Students enrolling in the Adult Studies program must either own or have access to a computer.


Graduation Requirements

  • Completion of 60 semester credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Payment of all tuition and fees
  • STEP 2 must be completed with a minimum GPA of 2.0
