Dr. Jim Lo is presently teaching at Indiana Wesleyan University, where he heads up the Intercultural Department. He also is the IWU World Impact Director, in which he promotes and organizes short term mission’s trips for students. Last year 18 teams were sent out with over 160 student participants. Dr. Lo has taken students with him to Chicago’s inner city, New York City, Cambodia, Southern Africa, Mongolia and China.
He also enjoys speaking at family camps, married couple retreats, youth conferences, mission’s conventions and revivals. He just recently was in Lagos, Nigeria teaching bishops who have a constituency of around ¾ million.
Dr. Lo is active in his local church; he serves on the local board of the Brookhaven Wesleyan Church and also teaches Sunday school, to adults and college students. He is the District Missions Director and is planning to promote a District short term missions team to Cuba. He was also elected to be a ministerial delegate for the upcoming General Conference of The Wesleyan Church this summer.
Dr. Lo has been married to Roxy for 27 years. They have twin sons, who are both teaching. Andre teaches at Frankton Junior High School and coaches boy’s soccer, girl’s basketball and girl’s track. Matthew teaches Social Studies and Economics and coaches girl’s soccer. Matthew is married to Wendy (Ferree).
Dr. Lo says he enjoys writing, having written children’s missions books, Compassion of Missions, Intentional Diversity and several articles for Evangelical Missions Quarterly, Wesleyan World, The Wesleyan Advocate, Light from the Word, Teacher Helps, etc. He has also written Theological Education by Extension books (Ephesians, Philippians and Living for God). His study, God’s Call to Holiness, is being translated into Zulu, French, Spanish and other tribal languages in Africa.
When asked what his best memory of OKWU was, he commented,
“The teachers who were so encouraging, patient and caring…professors who helped set up a strong foundation for doing eventual ministry into the world…who stressed the importance of working hard as a means of bringing glory to His Name.”
