Dennis was born and raised on a farm in South Dakota. At 16, he became a Christian after being influenced greatly by Christian neighbors. A year later, God began to speak to him about giving himself to full-time Christian Ministry. After finishing high school, he studied theology at Miltonvale Wesleyan College for four years and had further studies at Webester University, the Vienna Campus. During Dennis’ final year at MWC, he was challenged to become involved in an Operation Mobilization (OM) outreach. He spent that Christmas on an evangelism team in Mexico and then went to Turkey the following summer. While in Turkey, God again spoke to Dennis about being involved in long-term missions. As a result, he stayed in Turkey rather than returning to the States. Lois is from San Diego, California. As a child, her mother led her to the Lord. She spent seven years at Prairie Bible Institute in Canada preparing for ministry. During this time, she sensed God’s call to missions in Europe and joined OM in 1969 to serve in Austria. Dennis and Lois, who both entered missions as singles, married in Vienna, Austria, where they now are based. They have four children (two adult daughters who live in the U.S. and two teenagers still in Vienna). They have been active in mission service for over 30 years in Europe. The Wrights have ministered in Turkey, led OM’s ministry to Eastern Europe, and served as OM’s European area coordinator. Since 1991, Dennis and Lois have served in a partnership between Wesleyan World Missions as European regional director and Operation Mobilization as a Bible teacher/trainer.
