Wesleyan Missionary to Swaziland

Photo of Esther Phillippe

Esther gave her heart to the Lord at age nine and was teaching junior girls in a West Indian Sunday school by the time she was a teenager. She earned a B.S. degree in social science from Owosso College and an M.R.E. from Asbury Theological Seminary. She served for a time as director of Christian education at Houghton Wesleyan Church before joining the staff at Bartlesville Wesleyan College as dean of women and instructor in Christian education, missions, and Bible. In 1977, Esther left for South Africa to teach at Wesleyan Evangelical Seminary in Brakpan. Since 1986 she has taught and served as academic dean at Emmanuel Wesleyan Bible College in Manzini, Swaziland. Esther is part of the team of African and North American educators equipping men and women to build the church in Southern Africa. Her major concentration is education for pastors and church planters at the grass roots level. Promotion of church leadership development at all levels is also her deep concern.
