Wesleyan Missionaries to Columbia

After serving for six years in the pastorate in Missouri and Oklahoma, Jim and Julie Eckhardt were appointed in November 1995 to serve as career missionaries to Colombia. Since their appointing, they lived in Costa Rica for one year while attending language school and served two years in Medellin, Colombia. Jim was born in California and raised in the Mid-west. He was called to missions during a local missions conference in South Dakota. Jim earned a B.S. Degree in theology and cross-cultural ministries from Bartlesville Wesleyan College. He received a M.A. Degree in missiology from Nazarene Theological Seminary. Julie was born and raised in South Dakota. She felt God called her to missionary service at a Bible camp when she was ten years old. Julie earned a diploma from Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing and a B.S. degree in nursing from South Dakota State University. While in Colombia, Jim has been involved in theological education, leadership, development, and counseling. He has also served as the national secretary of Christian education. Julie has been involved in support ministry and women’s ministries. Jim and Julie have two children: Elizabeth (‘91) and Matthew (‘93).
