Wesleyan Missionaries to Brazil

Photo of Tom & Grace Ensz

Tom and Grace Ensz serve as career missionaries in Manaus, Brazil. Tom is the director of the Bible College involved in leadership training in the Amazon District of The Wesleyan Church. Grace homeschools, teaches at the Bible College, and works with women’s ministries. Tom was born in Alabama and raised in Florida. He earned a B.A. degree in missions from Bartlesville Wesleyan College and a M.Div. degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. While in college he studied anthropology with the goal of becoming a teacher. However, Tom found that his greatest interest was in his missions’ classes. His desire to be a missionary was confirmed through two experiences he had as a Wesleyan Gospel Corps volunteer in Zambia and Liberia. Grace (Ury) was born in Taiwan to missionary parents. She earned a B.A. degree from Asbury College and a M.Div. degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. During her years at Asbury, one event had a great impact on her life. At a missionary conference, the speaker told of the attempt to reconstruct the shattered remains of a statue of Jesus, but the hands were still missing. The inscription “God has no hands but yours” was added. The speaker asked for volunteers to be God’s hands. Grace said, “Yes!” Tom and Grace have three children: Anna (‘93), Hudson (‘95) and Gwendolyn (‘00).
