The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those individuals who have brought distinction, honor, and excellence to OKWU athletics.

CATEGORIES

Student Athlete:

  1. The student-athlete must be a graduate of OKWU.
  2. The student-athlete must have participated on a varsity athletic team for a minimum of 2 years while at OKWU.
  3. The student-athlete may be considered any time beginning five years after the completion of the academic year in which they participated in their sport.
  4. The student-athlete must have demonstrated outstanding athletic achievement while a student at OKWU.

Other areas of consideration: Christian character while in attendance and since. Accomplishments, personal, professional and athletic, since graduation, in or out of their sport.

Coach, Administrator, Faculty, Staff:

  1. This person must have a minimum of 3 years of active service and/or association with OKWU Athletics.
  2. This person must have retired, vacated his/her position, or left OKWU in good standing.
  3. This person must have made an outstanding impact in the developing, strengthening, and/or growth of OKWU Athletics.

Benefactor/Meritorious Support:

  1. A benefactor is someone who contributes significantly and consistently to the athletic department of OKWU. The contribution can be in the form of service or financial support.
  2. A person demonstrating meritorious support has played an integral role in the developing, strengthening, and growth of OKWU athletics.

COMMITTEE/PROCESS

The Hall of Fane selection committee shall be comprised of up to 10 members. Four of these members are assigned by nature of the position they hold. The other six members are considered “at-large” members and are appointed by the committee chair.

  • Director of Athletics
  • Asst. Director of Athletics or other athletic dept. member
  • Vice-President of Student Life
  • Director of Alumni Relations
  • At-Large Members (up to 6)

The athletics secretary and/or sports information director will serve as secretary of these meetings.

The Hall of Fame committee will be responsible for the selection of the annual recipient(s). The committee will meet as-needed throughout the year.

Anyone may submit nominations to the Hall of Fame committee. All nominations must include biographical information and any other information to support the nomination. A nomination form (pdf download) is available on this website to print. Nominations should be submitted by April 1 each year.

The secretary/sports information director will submit the nominations to the Selection Committee Chair. The committee will determine which nominees should be considered and then more research may be done if needed prior to a vote.

The Selection Committee will limit the annual inductees to 3 candidates per year with a maximum being 4. Candidates are eligible indefinitely.
