Assistant Coach: Ty Beard

Ty Beard is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball staff. Ty assists the basketball program in a number of areas including recruiting, on the floor coaching, and player development.

Beard began his coaching career at Baylor University as a student manager during the 2005-06 season and ascended to head manager prior to the 2008-09 campaign. In 2009, he was named as the graduate assistant, and served the program in that role until 2011. In Ty’s time at Baylor University he was apart of 2 NCAA tournament appearances, including one elite eight. He was also a part of one NIT appearance in which the team was the runner up.

Prior to college Beard played at Midlothian High School and was a two-year starter. His junior year he helped lead the Panthers to an Area Championship. Beard holds the record for charges taken in a season at Midlothian HS with 27.

Other experiences include many summer camps such as the SMU Basketball Camp, 5-Star Basketball Camps, The Tweety Carter Basketball Camp, and the Quincy Acy Basketball Camp.

The Midlothian, Texas, native graduated from Baylor with a bachelor’s degree in Education in 2009 and his master’s degree in sport management in May 2011.

Beard was married to the former Meagan Morris in May 2012.
