Bartlesville, Okla. – Akia Taplin has signed with the Oklahoma Wesleyan University women’s basketball problem, the coaching staff recently announced.
The power forward, who is from Alvin, TX, will is regarded as a very gifted player and head coach Mark Molder was pleased that he and his coaching staff were able to get her onboard.
“We are excited to sign Akia,” Molder noted. “The competition to sign Akia was tough and I think our staff did a great job to get Akia signed.”
Taplin, 5’11, averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds a game in high school and her skills and accomplishments were recognized by coaches in the Houston area as she was named First Team All-District.
“When you get the opportunity to sign a high character basketball player like Akia you are excited,” an elated Molder said.
“Our staff thinks Akia’s best basketball is ahead of her.
“Akia’s skill set and character should transition into our program nicely.” Added Molder
Taplin joins a talented group of Lady Eagle returners, who are looking forward to another successful season.
The Lady Eagles, which made back-to-back appearances in the NAIA National Championship, begin their season at home on October 28th.
