Lawrence, Kan. — Senior runner Allie Antrim guided Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s cross country team to a third place finish at the 2013 MCAC Women’s Cross Country Championship in Lawrence, Kan. Saturday morning.
Antrim finished third in the women’s race on a difficult morning with a time of 20:09.96 as the Lady Eagles picked up third place in the overall team race with 56 points.
With her finish, Antrim made it a perfect four, as she booked a place at the NAIA National Cross Country Championship meet for the fourth successive year.
Also qualifying for the national meet was freshman pacer Sarah Sharp, who ran 20:47.35 for sixth place overall and the third best finisher outside the winning team.
Sharp also won the Freshman of the Year Award.
Completing the list of runners for the Lady Eagles were freshman Crysta Humprey, who clocked 20:57.12 for ninth-place and just missed qualifying for the NAIA Championships by one spot. Senior Kody Schuetz ran 22:12.86, freshman Brenda Ortiz finished with 22:29.39, sophomore Annie Cheney, who crossed at 23:56.13 and senior Erika Zagornik ran 25:41.31.
St. Mary (Neb.) won the team title with 35pt, with Haskell also finishing in front of OKWU with 49pts.
