Antrim Wins MCAC Runner of the Week; Cross Country Impressed Again at Stampede

Bartlesville, OK — Allie Antrim has been named MCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22, the conference announced on Monday.

Antrim, a native of Overland Park, Kan., posted a seasonal best of 19:02 to finish 26th out of 141 runners in the women’s 5K at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday.

At the same meeting, freshman Sarah Sharp posted a personal best of 19:26 for 38th place in a very strong field, with the winner of the race, Lindsey Martin of Columbia College, clocking 18:01.

Freshman Brenda Ortiz, running her first-ever 5K, ran a solid 21:55, while sophomore Annie Cheney came home at 22:40 and Erika Zagornik (24:16).

On the men’s side, redshirt senior Andrew Townes ran a personal best of 29:37 to pace the Eagle runners over 8K, while senior Austin Blain was just a step behind him in an impressive 29:38.

Freshman Erasmo Huerta, was again impressive over the challenging distant, improving his personal best to 30:04.

Evan Vaught also clocked a personal best of 30:16, Derek Ford ran 30:27, while Jarett Blain (35:55) completed the Eagle starters.
