Brandon Cummings (Chandler, OK), a recent Oklahoma Wesleyan graduate and member of the Eagles baseball team, has signed a professional baseball contract with the Grand Prairie AirHogs of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.
Cummings, a two-year standout at catcher for the Eagles is coming off of a stellar senior campaign in which he hit .398 with 15 doubles and 42 RBI’s while throwing out 19 of 36 potential base stealers behind the plate. These numbers earned him first team All Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference honors as well as first team NCCAA All-American honors.
Cummings was a major part of the Eagles’ recent success as he led the Eagles to a 3rd place finish in the NAIA World Series in 2014 and a trip to the Grand Rapids regional final in 2015.
Cummings earned his first professional hit Monday June 8 as the AirHogs fell to the Sioux Falls Canaries.
The American Association is a league made up of twelve teams across the central United States. The Grand Prairie AirHogs play their home games at QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie, Texas.
