BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (4-8-10) — Each baseball season, nearly every team is forced to change their schedule throughout the season because of weather related cancellations. The Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles are no different, adding the Oklahoma State University Cowboys to their schedule later this month.
The Eagles (13-22, 3-5) and Cowboys will go to battle in Stillwater on April 21, with the first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. in a nine-inning contest.
As of April 8, the Cowboys have a 17-10 overall record on the season, and a Big 12 conference mark of 2-4, putting them towards the bottom of the power conference.
Oklahoma State is one of the more successful college baseball programs, winning the World Series in 1959. However, they have also been to the final game on five different occasions, most recently in 1990. In total, the Cowboys have made appearances in 19 World Series’.
When the two teams meet up, it will be the first time in school history that the Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball program will match up against a NCAA Division I opponent. Against NCAA Div. II teams this season, the Eagles have a 1-2 record, beating Henderson State (Ark.) on the opening weekend.
Updates during the action can be followed through the Oklahoma Wesleyan Athletics twitter account (OKWUAthletics).
