BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (11-18-09) – For the second straight season, the Oklahoma Wesleyan University men’s basketball has had a player named Player of the Week to begin the season. However, unlike last season when Murray Shaw was given the honor, Steve Briggs picked up the accolade the conference announced Monday.

Already the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week multiple times in his career, a 31-point performance versus National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Div. I top 10 opponent Rogers State University on Nov. 10 helped solidify the honor.

For the week, the Duncanville, Texas, native averaged 22-points, 3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and had a block in wins over Rogers State, Evangel University and Central Bible College. During that span, Briggs knocked down a total of 13 from behind the arc, and converted nearly 50 percent of his field goals.

Briggs’ Eagles are 6-0 following a victory earlier this week to Southwestern Christian University. On Friday, they head to Wichita, Kan., to take part in the Friends University Classic, tipping off with Friends in their first game at 8 p.m.
