BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (2-9-10) – For the third time this season, senior Steve Briggs was awarded the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
In two outstanding performances, one of which came on the road in a hostel environment at College of the Ozarks (Mo.), the Duncanville, Texas, native averaged 29.5 points, 4.5 assists and nearly three rebounds a game in the two games.
Despite the Eagles suffering their second loss of the season, Briggs dropped over half of the Eagles points at Ozarks, finishing the game with 40-points, while converting six shots from three-point range.
On Saturday, the 2009 All-American dished out six assists to his teammates in an 85-69 victory over No. 11 Bellevue University. Briggs also finished the game with 19-points.
This season, Briggs is averaging 22.1 points a game, leading his Eagle squad to a 22-2 overall victory, and a No. 2 rating in NAIA Div. II. OKWU will return to action tonight at Southwestern Christian in Bethany, Okla, before heading to Central Christian College (Kan.) and Haskell Indian Nations (Kan.) for conference match ups.
