Steve Briggs, the 2010 NAIA DII Player of the Year, has signed to play professionally in Germany. Briggs has signed to play with BSV Wulfen.
“I’m ready to prove that I am an elite player and show how much I really love and enjoy the game of basketball,” said Briggs “I’m overjoyed at this opportunity and want to thank God, my family, OWU and everyone who was a part of helping me make it where I am today.”
Briggs, a native of Duncanville, TX., leaves Oklahoma Wesleyan University as one of the top three point shooters to have ever played college basketball. His record setting three point shooting led him to score 2405 career points, and be the 4th ranked player in threes made to have ever played college basketball. He led the Eagles to a 91-15 record in three years, which was culminated by a National Championship in 2009 and National Player of the Year honors in 2010.
“You are not going to find a better young man than Steve Briggs,” said Oklahoma Wesleyan University head coach Donnie Bostwick. “ Steve did far more for our program than his awards and shooting will ever show. He made everyone around him better on a daily basis. He is going to be missed immensely, but we are all happy to see him continue his playing career professionally.”
As Briggs moves onto his professional career the Eagles begin focusing on the future. Oklahoma Wesleyan University will host Rogers State University on October 30th at 7:30pm.
