The Eagles men’s and women’s cross teams country teams continue to impress this season following two record breaking performances at the Missouri Southern Stampede, in Joplin on Saturday.
Senior David Rannabarger and freshman Allie Antrim established new school records as both the men’s and women’s teams finished 25th at the annual meeting that entertained 36 schools.
Rannabarger posted a new record and career best of 26:39.40 to lower his own previous mark by ten-seconds on his way to finishing 82nd out of the 311 runners that took part in the men’s 8K race.
The captain led home fellow seniors James Hensel, who ran 29:26 and Devon Arredondo (29:40.50). Freshmen Austin Blain (30:32.50) and Patrick Buntt (34:01.40) were the other finishers.
Antrim led the way on the women’s side with a time of 18:54.66 to improve the school record, which previously stood at 19:30. The freshman from Overland Park, KS, was 49th overall in the women’s 5K race that saw 302 runners competing.
Also impressive on the day and setting personal best were junior Genevieve Estes, who ran 20:19.60 and senior Micah Jenner, who clocked 20:42.10.
Junior Lisa Lord was the fourth Lady Eagle runner cross the finish line with a time of 21:57.96. Freshman Rachael Sanchez was also impressive in her first season – clocking a personal of 22:41.03.
Completing the Lady Eagle runners were Janette Young (23:14.44), Shannon Coutouzis (24:52.93), Hannah Hensel (26:40.04) and Anna Lamar (27:17.74).
“I am delighted with the efforts from both teams so far this season. The commitment and readiness to do well are the results of record-breaking performances.
“Every meeting I tell them ‘you are ready to go fast, just surprise me’ and that’s what they are doing.
“The team have a goal for this season and they are focusing on making that dream come true.”
