BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (12-4-09) – The only National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Div. II program in Oklahoma now owns the division’s record for consecutive wins, as the Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball defeats Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College, 95-63, for their 28th straight victory.

The Eagles last lost to conference opponent and rival College of the Ozarks (Mo.) on Jan. 20. Since then, the Eagles have won by an average of nearly 21 points a game, including the 2009 NAIA Div. II National Title. The victory also gives the Eagles their 25-straight at home.

All-American Steve Briggs led the team in scoring, finishing the contest with 23-points, including five from behind the arc. Junior, and 2009 third team All-American, Sadiel Rojas continued to build on his double-double average with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Glenpool, Okla., native Levi Mooney finished with 13-points of his own.

The Wesleyan men dominated on the board, pulling down 59 rebounds to the Saints 33. In the second half, Hillsdale was only able to pull down 12 in the second half.

Despite the victory, many of the Oklahoma Wesleyan fans went home disappointed as the Eagles finished one short of Goldie’s three-point contest with 14 made, and five points short of the Taco Bell 100-point Shootout.

The Eagles are dormant until Dec. 15 when the head to Waxahachie, Texas, to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God. On Dec. 19, the Eagles then go to Billings, Mont., for a contest versus Rocky Mountain College. RMC won the 2009 NAIA Div. I National Championship.
