The Men’s Soccer team gets another win versus a quality opponent in Oklahoma Christian this past Saturday in overtime.
Up until the final 4 minutes of the game the Eagles were down 0-1. That’s when Lucas Almeida scored on a pass from Cameel Hourani making the score an even 1-1. Neither team scored again until overtime when Lucas Almeida assisted Adam Skidmore for the game winning goal. When the final buzzer sounded the Eagles won 2-1.
Head Coach Jamie Peterson was proud of this win saying “I was proud of the way our players fought. We knew Oklahoma Christian was a team that was better than their record. We knew they would come out swinging and they put a lot of pressure on us early. Vladan Glavonic made a great save on a penalty kick but couldn’t come up with the rebound shot. The second half was one of several opportunities. Freshman Corwin Moore struck a shot that hit the cross bar that made everyone hold their breath. This was the first game that we have trailed in, so it was a good test of our mental toughness and how much heart we have.” This game was a test that the Eagles definitely passed.
Next up for the Men’s Soccer team is another home game versus Sterling College this Saturday September 18th at 5 pm. Come down to the soccer field if you get a chance!
