Junior, Edward Johnson, qualified for the 2009 NAIA National Indoor Track Meet this past weekend at Missouri Southern State University (Joplin). Johnson ran 6.90 seconds in the men’s 60m dash and placed second in a race against NCAA Division I & II athletes as well as other NAIA runners. This time also ties him for seventh in the 2009 NAIA 60m rankings and is new OKWU school record. The NAIA National Indoor Track Meet will be held at Johnson City, TN March 5-7.
Junior Jessica Imhoff improved her NCCAA qualifying triple jump mark for the year. She jumped 32’8” after a two-week recovery period after an injury.
Sophomore Leslie Smith had a handful of personal best times. She led a group of five lady eagles in the 800m run with a time of 2:38:35. In the 200m dash, she improved her time to 29.75 seconds and sprinted the 60m dash in 9.22 seconds.
