BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (10-28-09) – Led by two upper classmen, the Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s soccer team picked up their second win of the season over Bacone College, 3-2, in a non-conference game Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles (2-12) took down the Warriors with two first half goals and putting a third in late in the contest. Senior Tera Hughes, scored two of the three goals, on three shots on goal.
Also adding a goal in the contest was Junior College transfer Pam Brookshire. Brookshire got off two shots in the contest, both of which were on goal. Midfielder Eden Brown picked up all three assists for the Lady Eagles.
Keeper Kelli Crawford continued to add to her good season, saving 15 shots from the Warriors. Crawford is now averaging 10 saves a contest, which puts her at No. 15 in the nation.
The Wesleyan women will return to the pitch on Saturday, as they host Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent York College (Neb.). Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the OKWU Soccer Fields.
