BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (2-1-10) – A little less than a month after the announcement that Oklahoma Wesleyan University was reviving the softball program, head coach T.J. Thomas is proud to announce the signing of Allison Edwards, for the spring 2011 season.
A standout player at Duncan (OK) High School, Edwards earned an Oklahoma Large School All-State selection as a utility player. The all-stater was not only an outstanding player as an outfielder and pitcher, but got the job done behind the plate as well. She helped the Duncan Daemons to a 19-15 overall record in 2009, and a final top 10 ranking according to OKRankings.com.
However, she isn’t know for her athletic abilities alone, as Edwards was named a Wendy’s High School Heisman winner at the local level, for her leadership, community service, and academic record.
“I can’t say how excited I am to have our first commitment of the year be a player with the ability and leadership of Allison Edwards,” said coach Thomas. “She will be a great fit for the softball program and the school.”
Coach Thomas, Edwards, and the rest of the Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagle softball program will begin play in February of 2011.
