BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (5-13-09) – Former Berryhill Maiden standout Sara Spencer made her college decision, signing a letter of intent to play at the next level for Oklahoma Wesleyan University, beginning in fall 2009.
During her senior season, Spencer led her high school squad in scoring at 14.6 points a game, while pulling down a team high 7.1 rebounds a game.
A three-year starter for the Maidens, and a four-year varsity player, Spencer helped lead her team to one of the best seasons in school history, as Berryhill finished with a record of 19-6, and the 2009 Will Rogers Conference Championship.
Rated as one of the top six girls players in class 4A Area III by Coachesaid.com, Spencer had multiple season and post-season honors to add to her resume. She was honored by her team as the Maiden’s Most Valuable Player, named to the all-conference team, picked up an honorable mention honor in both the All-State and All-Metro teams by the Tulsa World and the Oklahoma Girls Basketbal Coaches Association Northeast Region All-Star team.
“I feel Sara will be able to step in from day one, and be as successful at the college level as she was in high school,” said Lady Eagle head coach Britney Kannady. “She is a great addition to our solid freshman class and program.”
This past season, Spencer had a season high of 28 points in the Beggs (Okla.) Tournament Championship.
