BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (5-16-09) – For the second time this off-season, the Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagle basketball team signed a Berryhill Maiden to a letter of intent for the upcoming season. Kaitie McMahan made this official Thursday afternoon at Berryhill High School.
A two-sport athlete at Berryhill, McMahan excelled in her career, including a senior season that included an All-State Honorable Mention, as well as All-Conference and All-Region honors in 2009. She was received an All-Conference spot during her junior season.
This past season, McMahan’s Maiden team finished with one of the best records in school history at 19-6, behind her 14 points, seven rebounds, three assist and a little more than two blocks a game.
“Kaitie is an excellent shooter and at 5-11, she will be able to create mismatches at the guard position,” mentioned Lady Eagle head coach Britney Kannady. “She can also create havoc on defense with her long arms, averaging just over two blocks a game at the high school level.”
McMahan was also a standout in track and field in her career, qualifying for state on multiple occasions in the high jump, including a state title in 2008.
The two-year basketball starter is the second Berryhill Maiden to make their college decision official, as the Lady Eagles signed her high school teammate Sara Spencer for the 2009-2010 season as well.
The Lady Eagles kick off their upcoming season Tuesday, November 3, with a home game versus Friends (Kan.) University.
