The 2011 Campaign for the Lady Eagles Softball program was a successful start to the rebuilding of the program. During the inaugural season the Lady Eagles went 19-34 on the year, reaching new heights in several ways. Last year’s Lady Eagles began rebuilding of the program by being the first team ever to reach the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference as well as the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association Regional Tournament.

Among other highlights, the Lady Eagles were able to take a win from a Top 10 NAIA program, as well as have several players receive honors and selections to the MCAC All-Conference Teams. (Allison Edwards, Jessica Pitts, Nya Beasley, Macy Wright, Katie Kelley.)

Going into the 2012 Season, the Lady Eagles Softball program has much to be excited about. The team has high hopes for this coming season.

The Lady Eagles will be returning eight starters from last year and a large group of new players containing four transfers which will add experience to the young group.

Some of the names to look for will be, Courtney Carson a transfer pitcher from Hinds Community College she will bring experience and a quality arm in the circle. Melanie McCallister from Independence Community College, is a shortstop and outfielder who can hit from both sides of the plate. Diamond Martinez, a speedy outfielder from Ventura College will be able to use her speed from the left side as well as hit with power from the right side of the plate. Candace Perkins a pure left handed slapper from Lincoln Christian High School will also help with her tremendous range in the outfield. Leanne Salas from Travis High School in Richmond Texas, will add major power to the lineup with her bat this season while spending time at first base. Courtney Gililland from Anna High School has exceptional speed in the middle infield and will also serve as a relief pitcher for the Lady Eagles. Jessica Wolf who spent a year at St. Gregory’s University will also add another bat to the Lady Eagles arsenal.

“I have high expectations for this group. I think we are ready to make the next step, and that step is to make a run at the Conference Championship.” Head Coach TJ Thomas
