BARTLESVILLE, Okla – The Oklahoma Wesleyan (0-1) men’s soccer program, headed by first year coach Jordan Belong, looks to get back on the winning track Wednesday as they host Tabor College (Kan.) at the OKWU Soccer Fields. Game time is set to begin at 5 p.m.

Wednesday’s match between the Eagles and the Blue Jays will be the first game of the season for the visitors. Last season, the Blue Jays finished the season with an 8-11 record.

Following at 2-1 victory in a scrimmage versus Coffeyville Community College (Kan.) on Aug. 22, the Eagles traveled to Oklahoma City this past Saturday for a match with Oklahoma Christian University. Despite finishing with the same score as the scrimmage, the Eagles came out of the losing end.

Oklahoma Christian scored the first goal of the game, followed by and Eagle goal by Antiqua native Vivian Consalves. Fellow countryman Cameel Horanny assisted Consalves on the goal.

However, just before halftime, Oklahoma Christian’s Peter Gordon put a shot in the back of the net for the go ahead goal.

Serbian keeper Vlad Glavonic was given the honor of the team player of the game after stopping 10 of Oklahoma Christian’s shots.

The Eagles will continue play later this week as well, traveling to Sterling, Kan., to take on Sterling College (Kan.) at 4 p.m.
