Both the Women’s and Men’s basketball teams came out victorious tonight in a MCAC Conference battle versus Central Christian College Tigers. The OKWU Women won 69-47 and the OKWU Men won 80-64.
The OKWU Women won by 18 points with all the Lady Eagles stepping up in big ways to get the win tonight. All 14 players that dressed out tonight saw several minutes of action and 11 of them scored. Leading the way for the Lady Eagles was freshmen Shelby Lloyd with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Also in double figures was freshmen center Kayla Oleman with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Rebecca Schluter stepped up and pulled 14 rebounds and scored 9 points. Overall the Lady Eagles out-rebounded their opponents 61-37.
In the men’s game the Eagles continued their scoring success by dropping 80 points on the Tigers. Leading the way was Sadiel Rojas with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Also in double figures was seniors Murray Shaw and Levi Mooney with 17 and 15 points respectively. The Eagles hit a total of 10 shots from 3 point territory. The Eagles once again out-rebound their opponent 49-30 including 19 offensive rebounds.
Next up for both OKWU Eagle teams is a road test against Ecclesia College in Springdale, Arkansas on January 18th and tip off times are 5:00 and 7:00 pm.
