BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (11-23-09) – With the success of the Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball program, they are also finding records in their reach. On Tuesday night, when they face the Southwestern College (KS), they look to tie the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division II record for consecutive wins.

With the victory, the Eagles, 8-0 and ranked No. 1 in NAIA Div. II, will record their 27th straight victory, tying a record set by Evangel University (Mo.) during the 2001-02 season. Tipoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Mueller Sports Center on the OKWU campus in Bartlesville.

The Wesleyan men are coming off a weekend where they swept two games from Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents Friends University (KS) and Bethel College (KS) at the Friends University Classic.

First team All-American Steve Briggs leads the Eagles in scoring with 20.13 points a game, and fellow All-American Sadiel Rojas is averaging a double-double, scoring nearly 19 points a game and pulling down 10 rebounds a contest.

If the Eagles tie the record, they will look to break the record in their next home game on Dec. 4, when they face Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College.

A victory on Tuesday against Southwestern College will also give the Eagles their 24th straight home victory.
