A little bit of water and mud did not hinder both the Women’s & Men’s Soccer Teams against Southwestern College (KS) as both teams pulled out victorious.
The OKWU Women posted a shutout and scored 4 goals on their way to the 4-0 win. Libbie Storie ended the game scoring 3 of the 4 goals for the Lady Eagles and Dawn Storie scored the 4th goal. Eden Brown, Deanna Sidener, and Dawn Storie ended the game with an assist each. Head Coach Isaiah Veale was very pleased with the play of the Lady Eagles saying “I was proud of our ladies for the type of soccer they played. They were aggressive winning the ball and had a hunger for maintaining possession. There was a selfless mentality and everyone worked extremely hard. This was the first game this season where we dominated the play from beginning to end.”
Next up for the Lady Eagles is an away game at Saint Gregory’s University on September 15th at 3pm.
In the Men’s game the OKWU Eagles pulled out the 3-1 victory versus the Southwestern College Moundbuilders. The Eagles were able to spread the scoring wealth as each of the 3 goals were scored by a different player. Juan Rueda, Corwin Moore, and David Critchley all put points on the board, with assists coming from Vivian Gonsalves and Ben Rummage. Probably one of the best plays of the evening was David Critchley’s 45 foot goal.
Men’s Soccer will hit the field again this weekend with a Saturday game versus Oklahoma Christian University at 4pm on the OKWU Soccer Field.
