Oklahoma Wesleyan University hosted its Invitational Golf Tournament Monday, October 25 and Tuesday, October 26 at Adams Golf Course. This was the final golf tournament of the fall season and the team finished strong. The men’s team placed second and was led by Pretson Bartley who individually placed first. Amidst howling winds, Bartley used strong ball striking to post an impressive 76. This gave him a one shot lead after day one. He continued to play well on the second day, posting a 74 for a 5 shot victory. Other players on the men’s team contributing to the second place finish were Clay Sikorski, Curt Johnson and Chris Gentry. Individually, Sikorski finished fifth, Johnson eighth and Gentry fifteenth.
OWU had two women compete in the tournament. Shayla Oyler placed third overall. Kesley Bailey placed fourth.
“We are pleased with our performance and look forward to building on this momentum to continue to improve for the spring season”, said Ken Moore, OWU golf coach. “I am also happy for Preston as he got rewarded for many hours of focused and purposeful practice.”
