BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (4-2-09) – Thursday evening in the Bartlesville First Wesleyan Church Family Life Center gym, the Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagle inked their first two signees of the 2009 recruiting season, and the first two in Wesleyan Christian School history.

Highly recruited Wesleyan Christian School players, Chantel Plummer and Kayla Deal, decided to play for their hometown school, making the their decision official with the signing of the Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Eagles.

“We are really excited to have both Chantel and Kayla a part of our program,” mentioned Lady Eagle head coach Britney Kannady. “Both girls will be able to come in from day one and help the team achieve the goals we have set for next season.”

As a senior for the Bartlesville based team, Plummer brought home the Cherokee Conference Most Valuable Player, while dropping an average of 18.4 points a game, as the Lady Mustangs finished with a 20-5 record. It was also Wesleyan Christian’s first season in the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activity Association, as they won the 2009 District title.

With the combination of Plummer and Deal, opponents struggled to win in the new facilities at First Wesleyan Church and Wesleyan Christian School, as the Lady Mustangs finished 9-1 in their home uniforms.

While Plummer dished out over four assists a game, 109 on the year, many of those were into the post to teammate Deal. Deal also scored double figures with 12.4 a contest, as well as pulling down eight rebounds a game.

Both players participated in the Cherokee Conference All-Star game in February held in South Coffeyville, Okla.
