BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (3-1-10) – Despite a tough season for the 2009-10 Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s basketball team, two Lady Eagles received conference honors, voted on by the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference coaches this past weekend.

The coaches honored Bartlesville, Okla., native Rebecca Schluter as the MCAC Freshman of the Year for this past season. Schluter was a dominate force on the boards for the Lady Eagles, pulling down 13.27 boards a contest, while leading the team in scoring as well at 14.27 a game. The freshman also earned a spot on the National Christian College Athletic Association All-Central Region team.

Against eventual MCAC regular season and conference tournament champion College of the Ozarks (Mo.), Schluter set the school record for rebounds in a game with 23 in the road contest. Schluter ended the season with a school records in rebounds at 398, fourth best this season in NAIA Div. II, and 51 blocks.

Also earning recognition by the coaches was transfer guard Kristen Dixon. Dixon came to OKWU before the season from Connors State College (Okla.), and after missing the first semester, came on strong to average 12-points a game.

On Jan. 22 against Central Christian College (Kan.), Dixon converted two free throws with three seconds left to lift the Lady Eagles over the Lady Tigers. Because of here heroics against the Lady Tigers, in which she scored 27-points, Dixon was awarded the MCAC Player of the Week.

Schluter and Dixon are just two of many that return to the Lady Eagle basketball squad in 2010-11.
