BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (9-22-09) – The Oklahoma Wesleyan University Athletic Department has released the 2009-10 OKWU Women’s basketball schedule. The upcoming Lady Eagles season includes six games versus National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Div. I opponents, and an exhibition game with NCAA Div. II opponent East Central Oklahoma.
The Lady Eagles, a NAIA Div. II team, kick off their season Nov. 3 against Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference member Friends University, followed by games on Nov. 6 and 7 at Bethel College (Kan.) and McPherson College (Kan.), both KCAC schools.
On Nov. 10, the Wesleyan women will host regional rival and NAIA Div. I team Rogers State University. The Lady Eagles and the Hillcats will play again on Nov. 19 in Claremore.
The second of the NAIA Div. I schools the Lady Eagles will face is Northwestern Oklahoma State University, when they travel to Alva to take on the Lady Rangers on Nov. 14. Both teams will again battle the next Saturday, Nov. 21, in Bartlesville. The Lady Eagles will also face Oklahoma Christian on Dec. 12 and Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Dec. 15. Both games will be on the road.
For the first time in several years, the Lady Eagles will play a NCAA Div. II opponent, traveling to East Central University in Ada on Dec. 1 for an exhibition game.
Oklahoma Wesleyan’s conference season begins on the road on Jan. 15, as they head to Peru State College (Neb.), the travel to York College (Neb.) the next afternoon.
College of the Ozarks, a National Tournament “Fab Four” team from a year ago, will come to Bartlesville on Jan. 26 in a rivalry renewed.
