Bartlesville, Oklahoma- The Oklahoma Wesleyan University baseball team is off to its best start in Coach Parker’s three year tenure at OKWU. The Eagles are off to a 15-3 start and look to continue to build off of the hot start as they roll into the conference opener on March 14 with Waldorf College.
Strong pitching performances and solid defensive efforts have been the staple for OKWU’s success in the early part of the season. The pitching staff has combined for a healthy amount of quality starts, including 6 complete games and 5 shut outs through the first 18 contests.
The defense has also been superb and is currently ranked in the top 10 statistically in fielding percentage in the NAIA. The Eagles’ offense has started to emerge as a potential force for OKWU as well. Led by Senior Cody Riley, the Eagles’ offense has combined for 88 hits and 76 runs in the last 8 contests.
The Eagles’ will host Hillsdale Baptist College in a four game set this weekend, March 7th and March 8th. The March 7th double header will be a noon start at the OWKU facility. The March 8th contests will be held at Doenges Memorial Stadium beginning at noon.
