Ft. Worth, TX – The Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles golf team competed in their first tournament of the spring Monday and Tuesday at Hawks Creek Golf Club in Ft. Worth, TX.
The tournament was hosted by the #1 team in the NAIA, Texas Wesleyan. The Eagles struggled on the first day as they shot their worst round of the year. Senior Cody Price shot an opening nine 52, but he followed it up with a back nine 39.
Clayton Sikorski, junior, led the Eagles with an opening round 80. Curtis Johnson, junior, shot 84. Taylor Hurd, freshman, shot 88. Andrew Henson, who was making his Eagle debut, shot an opening round 90. The Eagles team score of 342 placed them in 10th place.
The second day saw the Eagles play better. Cody Price recovered from his 91 to shoot 75 in the second round. Clayton Sikorski also improved his 80 to a 79. Taylor Hurd was consist with another round of 88.
Curtis Johnson shot 87, and Andrew Henson shot 86. The Eagles 327 score the second day jumped them a spot to 9th.
“It wasn’t the way we wanted to start the spring. Cody had a rough opening nine hole, but he really grinded the entire two days,” Head Coach T. J. Dickinson said.
“I think we got some experience, and we are ready for a good rest of the spring. We have a lot of golf ahead of us.”
