Georgetown, TX – The Eagles golf team traveled to Georgetown, TX on Monday and Tuesday for a 54 hole tournament at Berry Creek Country Club. The tournament was held by Southwestern University.
The first day consisted of 36 holes. The Eagles did not get off to a great start in the morning 18. Cody Price and Scott Seymour led the way for the Eagles with 79, which put them in the top 15.
Clayton Sikorski shot 87, Kyle Essary shot 88, and Cody Codding (making his 2012-2013 debut) shot 89. The Eagles were in 7th place after their opening round 333.
The Eagles would play better in their second 18 of the day. Their 311 team total moved them into 6th place. Sikorski paced the Eagles with a 76.
Price and Seymour again shot identical rounds of 77. Other Eagles scores included: Essary-81 and Codding-94.
“I thought we battled through a rough start. We did not have our best in the opening 18, but we did a decent job of battling through the afternoon,” Head Coach T. J. Dickinson said.
The second day would see more of the same for the Eagles. Kyle Essary shot 76 to finish off his week. Other Eagle scores on day 2 were: Price and Seymour-82 and Sikorski-89.
“We are close to being where we want to be. We can get two or three good rounds, but we can’t see to put all four players together yet,” Dickinson said.
“We will continue to improve and be ready for conference in a couple of weeks.”
