Bartlesville, Okla. — Freshman guard Kayla Morgan led the Lady Eagles basketball program to three victories last week as the Mark Molder coached team improved to 16-10 overall on the season and 9-2 in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference.
OKWU registered wins over Haskell, York College and Central Christian to end their regular season road trips, with the final four games of the season scheduled for home.
Against Haskell, freshman standout Morgan had 23 points and six rebounds and Courtney Backward finished with 13 points and the Lady Eagles held off a strong finish from the hosts to win 77-67.
Morgan was again impressive on the road, as she scored 20 points and led five players into double digit scoring in Oklahoma Wesleyan’s 93-84 victory over York College.
Point guard Backward contributed 14 points, Megan Jones ended with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, Kelsey Jones all had a double-double of 12 points and 11 boards, while Nichole Tate scored 11 points in the win.
OKWU completed the week’s fixture with a comfortable 96-53 victory over Central Christian, with Morgan leading the way once again with 26 points.
Delaney Jones scored 14 points, while twin sister Megan added 12 points and eight assists.
Oklahoma Wesleyan returns to action at home this week with Saint Mary (Neb.) and College of the Ozarks listed on the schedule.
Molder’s team has won three in a row and 10 of its last 11 games.
