Lady Eagles basketball makes NAIA tournament, will face College of Idaho

Bartlesville, OK — “We are going to Iowa” was the loud noise echoing inside the Mueller Sports Center this evening, following the news that the women’s basketball team created history.

The Mark Molder coached Lady Eagles has officially claimed their place in the 22nd Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship, to be held on March 6-12 in Sioux City, Iowa, at the Tyson Events Center.

This was the first time the women’s program qualified for the NAIA tournament and they were absolutely delighted.

“We are going to Iowa,” freshman point guard Courtney Backward echoed inside the gymnasium on Wednesday.

Oklahoma Wesleyan will face College of Idaho in the first round next Wednesday at 9:15 pm.

Molder, in his second year as head coach of the women’s team, has been nothing short of outstanding this term, piloting the women’s team to some big accolades this season, including the MCAC regular year title.

The Lady Eagles finished the regular season and the conference tournament with a 24-5 record.

The team reached the final of the MCAC South Tournament, but was defeated by College of the Ozarks last weekend.
