Lady Eagles return to winning ways with 72-61 over Swedes

Lindsborg, KS — The Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s basketball team got back on winning track on Monday night with a 72-61 victory over Bethany College.

Megan Jones and Nichole Tate combined to score 33 points to lead the Lady Eagles, who were rebounding from a 62-51 defeat to Friends University last week.

Tate scored 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting and pulled down five rebounds, while Jones collected 15 points and seven boards in the win for the Lady Eagles.

Caithlin Linihan added 12 points to go along with her five rebounds, with freshman point guard Courtney Backward supporting with 11 points and three assists.

Oklahoma Wesleyan, which had a four game win steak snapped by Friends University before the Thanksgiving break, is 5-2 on the season.

Tanya Garner scored 16 points to lead the way for Bethany College.

Nicole Felker and Tasha Wagoner each added 12 points in the defeat for the Swedes, who shot just 37-percent from the field.
