Lady Eagles Soccer Beat Bacone 3-0, Focus On Bellevue Clash

A 3-0 win over Bacone College saw the Eagles extending their winning streak to 5 games. The afternoon started with a high tempo as the Eagles tried to break the deadlock in the early minutes.

It did not take long before sophomore forward Paula Vicenzo laid a back pass to senior midfielder Elisa Brito who struck it hard onto the ground and into the net in the 7th minute.

Thirteen minutes later, skillful Brito crossed a high ball onto the far post only to find senior midfielder Ashley Burnett who buried the ball into the back of the net, 2-0.

Bacone offense, led by Mariah Sweeney, tried to capitalize on their opportunities, but Lisa Aman was determined to keep a clean sheet.

In the 52nd minute, Brito wonderfully created a chance as she dribbled from wide field to put through Kaka Mourao who blasted the ball into the back of the net, 3-0.

Bacone goalkeeper Ashley Smith made 3 saves while Lisa Amman made 1 save. OKWU had 12 shots against 5 to Bacone College.

“We did not play up to our potential today, but we still got comfortable win and that makes me partially happy,” said head coach Vladan Glavonic.

“Good teams know how to win when they are not having the best day, and we managed to do that today. We have two days to regroup and prepare for the big game on Saturday”.

The Lady Eagles’ next game will be on Saturday October 12th against Bellevue University @ 1:00 pm. This will be another tough conference game on the homecoming day.
