Desperate to find their winning ways, the Lady Eagles travelled to Bethany College, in Kansas, hoping to build momentum as conference games draw near.
The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead just under three minutes into the game from a clinical finish by Paula Vicenzo assisted by Ana Popov. OKWU added their second goal just four minutes later, and tacked on their third goal at the 16-minute mark, both goals from Paula assisted by Elisa Brito and Laura McKnight respectively.
The Swedes got on the board three minutes later on a goal by freshman Paige Wolney, assisted by junior Kristina Garcia. Bethany scored again just six minutes later as sophomore Christina Noonan netted a goal, cutting the Eagles lead to 3-2 going into the half.
Three minutes into the second half, OKWU tallied their fourth goal of the afternoon, credit to Paula assisted by Elisa. The Swedes responded three minutes later with a goal by freshman Erika Klein, assisted by freshman Sarah Henderson. Two goals from Elisa and one from Amber Brown (assisted by Elisa) extended the lead to four within 17 minutes.
The Swedes recorded their third goal just before the 84-minute mark as Henderson found the net. That would prove to be the last score of the game as Oklahoma Wesleyan University defeated Bethany 7-4.
OKWU outshot Bethany 21-12. The Lady Eagles’ next match will be on Wednesday Sept. 25th @ 4:00pm at home.
