Lady Eagles Softball picked up wins over Sterling, Ottawa

Bartlesville, OK — The Lady Eagles picked up a pair of 3-1 wins over Sterling College and Ottawa University today as they improved to 3-4 on the year.

In the first game, the Eagles wasted no time taking an early lead on a sacrifice fly in the first by Jessica Farris which scored Candace Perkins who got on by a walk. In the third inning, Caitlin Day lead off with a double. Pinch runner Kylie Johnson then scored by a sacrifice fly from Leanne Salas.

The final Eagle run came on a lead off solo home run by Macy Wright, her second of the year. Jenna Daniel picked up her first collegiate victory in the circle allowing one run on three hits with a career high 9 strikeouts.

In the nightcap, OKWU got a gutsy pitching performance by Courtney Carson and clutch pitching by reliever Katie Kelley in the seventh inning to hold on for the victory. Braving cold temperatures, the two pitchers allowed just 4 hits and got out of multiple jams with solid defense.

The first run of the game came on a RBI single by Salas scoring Farris who got on with a double. Two more were tacked on in the fifth from a RBI single by Perkins and a sacrifice fly by Day. The lone Brave run came on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh.

The Eagles continue play Saturday at 12 and 2 against Sterling and Ottawa at the Lady Eagles Softball Complex.
