Lady Eagles Softball End of Regular Season Recap

The Lady Eagles are coming off their best season with a 34-13 overall record, a 16-4 mark in MCAC play. This weekend, the team partakes in the NCCAA Regional tournament hosted in Conway, AR by Central Baptist College. 

The single elimination tournament is scheduled to take place solely on Saturday, but the rain may push the games to Sunday.

Also in the tournament is Crowley Ridge, Ecclesia College, Hillsdale College, Oklahoma Christian University, and Central Baptist College. The winner earns a bid to the NCCAA National Tournament hosted in Botetourt, Virginia on May 9-11. OKWU will play Saturday at 2:00 against the winner of Hillsdale / Oklahoma Christian. The winner will then play at 6:00 for the championship.

The following week, the Lady Eagles will take part in the MCAC Conference Tournament, currently to be held in Conway, AR. The Eagles will most likely earn the third seed and will take on the second seeded team in the opening game. The winner of the MCAC Tournament will get an automatic big to the opening rounds of the NAIA National Championship May 13-15 at a host site to be named later.

The Eagles are led by junior shortstop Miranda Kiser who has a team hit .403 batting average. Junior catcher Allison Edwards leads the team with 15 home runs and 53 runs batted in. Leadoff hitter and centerfielder Candace Perkins leads the team in runs scored with 47 and also stolen bases with a 13-14 success record. 

In the circle, freshman Jenna Daniel leads in era (2.85), wins (11), strikeouts (114) and opposing team batting average (.194). Lone senior Courtney Carson is close behind with a 3.10 era and leads with 16 games started and innings pitched (90.1). The Eagles also hold a .967 fielding percentage which is in the top 10 in the NAIA.
