BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s basketball team avenged an early season loss to Sterling by defeating the Warriors on Senior Night, 68-50.
The Lady Eagles outscored Sterling 28-11 in the third quarter to capture their 14th win of the season.
Senior, Shelbie Kirby, led Oklahoma Wesleyan in scoring as she finished with 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field. Tiffany Rieger also recorded double-figures with a 12-point and four rebounds performance. Freshman point guard Grace Pospichal just missed double-figures in scoring as she compiled nine points and also dished out four assists. Patience Gitau was the leading rebounder for the Lady Eagles as she pulled down 11 rebounds.
Oklahoma Wesleyan shot 40 percent (25/62) as a team from the field and 33 percent (9/27) from behind the three-point line.
Sterling was led in scoring by Jessica Prince who finished with 14 points.
With the win, the Lady Eagles have clinched a spot in the KCAC Conference Tournament with one regular season game remaining. They will face Tabor College on Saturday, February 18th, to conclude regular season action. Tip-off against the Bluejays is scheduled for 5:00pm in Hillsboro, Kansas.
