Bartlesville, Okla. — Coming from eight unbeaten games, the Lady Eagles were seeking their fourth conference win against Central Baptist. The beginning of first half showed little action.
In the 30th minute, dead-ball specialist Elisa Brito blasted the ball from 30 yards only to hit the cross bar and back into the field. Ten minutes later, senior midfielder Ashley Burnett came close to open the dead-lock as her effort saw the ball miss the goal by inches.
In the second half, Eagles showed more urgency in their passing and a determination to take all three points home. It was only a matter of time before a well curved corner kick by Brito found Guadalupe Cortez at the back stick of the goal who headed home to make it 1-0 in the 60th minute.
The goal provided a new sound belief to push for another. In form sophomore midfielder Kaka Moura dribbled past two midfielders before setting up senior forward Jessica Martin. Martin dances her way toward the goal with a clinical finish in the 74th minute. The match ended 2-0 in favor of Eagles.
