Bartlesville, Okla. – The Oklahoma Wesleyan University Basketball program has announced the signing of Meredith Saunier, who will join the team for the 2013-14 season.

Saunier signed her letter of intent to continue her playing career with the Lady Eagles.

She helped lead McAlester High School to an impressive season which saw the Lady Buffaloes make a deep playoff run this season.

OKWU head coach Mark Molder said: “You won’t meet a better kid than Meredith. She is extremely talented and also takes care of business in the classroom.

“Her ability to shoot and handle the ball will be an asset for our program in the years to come.”

The incoming freshman has also been tipped to do great things by her high school coach.

“Her leadership has just grown and grown and grown,” McAlester coach April Burns was quoted as saying about Saunier.

“I think Meredith’s a natural-born leader, I really do.

“I think she just displays that because she works so hard. She doesn’t ask anybody to do stuff that she won’t do herself.”

Saunier will be joining the program that is looking to build on their first ever MCAC Conference Title.

The Lady Eagles, which made its first ever appearance at the NAIA National Championships, open next season on October 29th against Friends University.
